The TRIA Community Literacy Exam (TCLE) is a progression-based assessment aimed to test the abilities of the individual’s literacy, knowledge, and involvement to the community of TRIA. The test is held every six (6) months and has varying difficulties.
The TCLE is based off the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) for their use of grading and difficulty levels (in reference to this, the JLPT uses levels that start from N5 [Easiest] to N1 [Hardest].). The TCLE is inspired by a quiz activity that was hosted by Rayhan Ahmed during late 2022 and early 2023.
The TCLE will assess the following abilities and skills of the individual:
The test contains 100 questions. It is separated into 5 categories (20 questions per section) which have their own individual grading scale. The sections are progressive and increase in difficulty, which caters questions referring to certain areas and timelines of TRIA community culture and such.
The test sections are as follows:

Terminal Grade 1 (TGR-1) will be the easiest section of the exam paper. It will feature trivial map questions released atleast 3-4 months ago, distinction of features from community members of interest that are official TRIA Developers and/or members that are widely recognized within the community. These questions will be in multiple choice.
Section Percentage: 20%
Terminal Grade 2 (TGR-2) is the next sequence of the exam paper. This section will challenge test-takers with analogies and true or false questions, with topics related to maps that been released 6-12 months ago, trivial questions about map creators of well recognized maps, and questions about specific map timelines.
Section Percentage: 20%
Terminal Grade 3 (TGR-3) is the midpoint of the exam paper. This section will introduce enumeration questions, date recalls, and event sorting sections. The topics in this section will include maps that have been released for a year or two, questions related to community events (hosted by community members, not the developers themselves), and history of a specific era in the community.
Section Percentage: 30%
Terminal Grade Extension (TGR-EXT), also known as 1-60 Summaries, is a summative section of the previous questions from previous sections in the paper. This section will include questions correlated with topics from the previous sections.
Section Percentage: 5%
Terminal Grade DVX (TGR-DVX) is the final and hardest section of the exam paper. For this section, the first 10 questions involve enumeration ONLY, and the topics of these questions will be discussed with the exam proctors. After that, the test-taker is tasked to write a 10 sentence essay about the state of the TRIA Community, to be reviewed by curators and test authors.
Section Percentage: 25%
The DVX is a bonus question in the exam paper which asks the test-taker to determine the theme of the exam paper. It will only contain one to two words as an answer. There is no question, but the clue is the entire test paper itself. Answering this correctly rewards the test-taker with an extra 20 points in the exam.
